My Artistic Journey: Inspired by My Dad, Danilo Giannoni
Hello! I’m Julia Giannoni, a student at St. Nicholas Girls’ School, and today I want to share a story close to my heart, how my father, Danilo Giannoni, founder and creative director of Arte Oro, has shaped my dream of becoming a jewelry designer.
Since childhood, I’ve been surrounded by the sparkle of gemstones and the beauty of handcrafted jewelry. My father has spent more than 30 years perfecting his craft, designing exquisite, one-of-a-kind pieces for clients around the world, from collectors to royalty. He believes that every creation should be unique, never replicating the same design twice. Watching him work in his atelier in Singapore, I fell in love with the artistry behind each piece, the way he carefully selects stones, sketches intricate designs, and brings his visions to life with his hands.
One unforgettable moment was when my dad crafted a breathtaking sapphire ring for a dear friend and client, Jocelyn, from Singapore. The ring was more than just jewelry it was a masterpiece, rich in color and meaning. Seeing the happiness, it brought her made me realize the transformative power of art, how bespoke jewelry tells a story and makes someone feel truly special.
At Arte Oro, my father values craftsmanship and ethical sourcing, even traveling to mines himself to ensure that every gem is responsibly obtained. He is passionate about nurturing young talent in Singapore, hoping to leave behind a legacy that inspires future generations, including me.
As I prepare for secondary school, I’m eager to immerse myself in the Aesthetics program, where I can explore new techniques, express my creativity, and collaborate with fellow young artists. The art community at St. Nicholas is incredibly welcoming, and I know it will encourage me to grow.
But what excites me most is the opportunity to bond with my father over our shared love for art and design. I hope that by learning more about jewelry craftsmanship, I will one day work alongside him at Arte Oro, creating meaningful pieces that reflect both our passions.
This is just the beginning of my artistic journey, but with my dad’s guidance and the inspiration I draw from his work, I truly believe I can turn my dreams into reality. I look forward to sharing more of my adventures and learning from the incredible people around me as I take my first steps into the world of jewelry design.
